Expect the Best: Your Guide to Healthy Eating Before, During and After Pregnancy - by the ADA and Elizabeth Ward, MS, RD (2009) - A consumer guide on nutrition before, during and after pregnancy, including each stage of pregnancy and delivery. Also looks at diabetes while pregnant, being overweight, relief for morning sickness and more. A great source for nutrition for any first time mom or more!
Naturally Thin - by Bethenny Frankel (2009) - A nice start by including 10 rules, sample meal plans and recipes as well as sensible tactics like portion control, savoring food, etc...but also includes a lot of incorrect information. not surprisingly since the author states no education or background in the nutrition field or physiology. Examples can include eating almonds after cupcakes and chocolate to control blood sugar, alternating carb-based meals and protein-based meals, and avoiding starches when drinking alcohol. The diet is either too specific or too vague and will probably lead to little weight loss.
